Neal and Laurie did an amazing job and deserve a raise. I thought the price was high at first but when I looked into it it was a fair price. They said it would take a week but only took 2 days. I highly recommend Neal if you can get him.

A&E Marine is a clown show of an organization. My experience shows that they're in the business of “dartboard diagnostics”, and try to throw parts at a broken boat until something works OR the customer gives up and leaves them alone.

I dropped my boat off in October because my engine was stalling out on the water. They started by (wrongly) installing new low and high pressure fuel pumps and serviced the VST, but the issue was not fixed. Over the next 5 months, I proceeded to pick up and then return the boat to them 4 separate times because the boat was still in the same state as when I originally dropped it off in October. They replaced the fuel pumps multiple times, taking weeks or months each time and blaming “covid” and “shipping delays” but no, still not fixed. Meanwhile each time I returned the boat they put me at the back of the line after other customers, even though I paid up front after the first visit (so they had no incentive to continue working on my boat). I had to call and check in on the boat countless times, with no real updates, and the customer service and communication got worse and worse as the months went on.

After the 2nd or 3rd time returning the boat to them, they convinced me to buy a new $1000 ECM for the motor, and this didn’t fix the issue either… I’m sure they’ll respond to this with some smart@$$ comment about how I bought the ECM under my own will, but the truth is that their mechanic Neal told me he had diagnosed the ECM to be the issue with 98% certainty. When I asked what the remaining 2% chance was, he told me he never gives a customer a 100% chance, because “even if a boat sunk to the bottom of the ocean he would question if it was a submarine”. Pretty convincing if you ask me…. but his diagnosis was WRONG.

I finally gave up after giving them 4 chances (5 months) to fix their mistake, and took the boat down the street to Randy’s Marine, who had the boat up and running after 2 DAYS. Randy’s Marine even waited after hours to sea trial the boat with me.

Hey Neal, Eddie, guess what? It wasn’t the fuel pumps, it wasn’t the ECM, in fact it wasn’t the motor at all. It was a simple collapsed fuel line liner restricting flow from the tank. After I picked the boat up from you, I spoke with several certified Mercury technicians who told me the NUMBER ONE rule when starting to diagnose motor issues is to separate the boat from the motor, and after 5 months you guys still couldn’t figure that one out.

I have a Mercury-certified second opinion stating that you lied to me about your supposed sea trials. Also, those splices you put in my fuel line to add the primer bulb and fuel-water separator leaked air like a SOB.

If you look through their review history, they tend to respond to negative reviews with very nasty responses about “non-boaters" which are almost certainly untrue. So, anyone who would like the facts, email or DM me and I’ll share my collection of screenshots and written record of my conversations with A&E Marine.

TO CONCLUDE: I would caution anyone from ever trusting these guys with their boat. But if you do, make sure you use a credit card so you can dispute their charges, or lawyer up, because unfortunately that's where I’m headed with A&E Marine.

If Google ever updates to allow zero star reviews, I’ll be back. See ya’ll in court.

Eddie Boat consistently provides exceptional care for my boat. Trustworthy and detail-oriented, I wouldn’t choose anyone else in the area. His commitment to going above and beyond sets him apart.

Went to them from a referral for a power steering pump, they said drop the boat off that day which I did. I was told it would take “a few days”. I asked “so what do you figure, a few weeks?” I was told “no, a few days”. After the boat sat outside for 2 WEEKS and they still hadn’t even looked at it yet - I went and pulled it out of there and brought it elsewhere. Within 24 hrs of bringing it to another shop, I had a quote for repair and it’s being done now. During the two weeks it sat there, I went in twice to question the timeframe, the owner never came to speak with me, he left that to the receptionist. When I went to pick the boat up, he never came to see me then either. It seems they could care less if they have your business or not. Also by reading others reviews and seeing multiple people complaining & posting negative reviews for an experience I was having myself, pulling my boat out of there was a great decision

These folks are great! Eddie (Owner) treats you like a friend. Just had two difficult engine repairs completed by A&E. Prior to A&E I learned (again) "you get what you pay for". I am not easily pleased. However, I recommend them to all I know and meet that need boat repairs!

BE WARNED! Lost thousands on a deposit I placed with this company. They claimed parts were not available for over a year and I finally had to sell the boat in non working condition. He blamed COVID for parts problems which I totally understood But he did NOT return my deposit. He claims business is not making any money and he can't afford to pay me back. A deposit should not be spent on expenses, so this in itself a terrible business practice. Today, I have not heard one word from this company on deposit being refunded. It has been two years of back and forth emails and phone calls with me getting the shaft. Hope all of you keep this in mind before spending any money with this group.

I never give reviews (2nd one ever), but they have gone above and beyond so they deserve a 5 star. Bought a sailboat that had a small diesel engine. It was in bad shape and needed lots of TLC. I called around to a few shops and was either turned down or told to run the engine how it was. Then I called Eddie at A&E and he listened to what I wanted as a customer and got on the same page as me. I pulled the engine and brought it to A&E. They came back with amazing work and lots of attention to detail! Neal was very informational and walked me through all the steps being taken to restore the engine and a new maintenance schedule for it. No work was done without my knowing or financial permission which told me they don't do shady work behind your back. The engine is back in and runs flawless and looks great! I've called a handful of times with questions and they are always willing to help diagnose small issues I had with installing it back in the boat myself which I chose to do so their service extends beyond the work they do in the shop and they do really care about the customer and stand behind their work. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs marine engine work done, even the oddball uncommon stuff like my engine was.
